Vallnord Arcalis, Andorra (11 February 2017) – New Zealand’s young freeride athletes continue to perform well against strong international fields with snowboarder Finn Duffy (Queenstown) claiming third place at the Eldorado Junior Freeride three-star competition in Andorra over the weekend.
“I was feeling pretty good about the line I’d chosen at the top of the course,” explains Finn. “I knew where I wanted to go and was ready to stomp. I was fast for the first third of the venue but then had a bit of a hiccup and stopped for three seconds, getting a bit lost in my first double drop but then sent it and did a big grab on my last air to run out to the finish. Overall I was happy with my run but would have liked to be more confident in my middle double drop.”
Alistair Garland (Wanaka) placed seventh in men’s ski and Hugo Cameron (Taupo) 16th.
