Dunedin, New Zealand (23 May 2014) - Freeskier Beau-James Wells has been named Otago's Junior Sportsman of the Year at the annual awards held in Dunedin this evening.
Beau-James claimed New Zealand’s first Junior World Championship title, winning the halfpipe competition in Italy last month. He placed sixth in the Olympic halfpipe event in Sochi in February.
Bruce Wells was a finalist for the Otago Coach of the Year but honours went to cricket coach Mike Hesson. Bruce won the Central Otago Coach of the Year award in April.
