Vogel, Slovenia (13 March 2016) - Queenstown skier Adie Lawrence battled tough weather conditions to take out the win in freeski slopestyle at the Europa Cup in the Slovenian ski resort of Vogel overnight (NZ time).
With a choice of features on offer, Lawrence was the only female competitior to opt for the larger jumps, clearly signalling her medal-winning aspirations to the judges.
"There were some challenging conditions out there today but I am pretty stoked to come out with a good result!" she said. "I decided to go with the bigger line to set it up for some bigger tricks but the weather conditions held me back from those."
Her gutsy approach was still enough to impress the judges and give her the win.
Fellow Kiwi Gia Hughes earned a career best finish with fourth fourth place while Alec Savery faced a strong men's field representing eight nations and finished just off the podium in fourth place.
