Snow Sports NZ Junior Alpine Development Camps

Snow Sports NZ will be holding two Junior Alpine Development Camps in 2015 funded by The Snowvision Foundation. A technical camp will be held at Coronet Peak 23rd-25th July and a speed camp at Mt Hutt on the 19th and 20th August for Snow Sports NZ registered 2nd year U14’s, U16’s and First Year FIS athletes.

CRITERIA

The Snow Sports NZ Alpine Selectors will select athletes to attend the camp based on;

  1. 2014/15 results (e.g. NZYS, National Points races, North and South Island Championships). Results from the Northern hemisphere will also be taken into account.
  2. A letter of recommendation from Club/Training provider or Program Head Coach and
  3. A signed athlete/parent permission form and scanned copy of NZ passport.

FORMAT

Both camps will run under the guidance of World Cup Alpine Ski Coach, Chris Knight from the USA Alpine Ski Team and will be managed by Snow Sports NZ Alpine Manager Hannah Hazeldine.

The camps will focus on the following:

  1. Advancement: Giant Slalom/Slalom & Super G technique.
  2. Enhancement: Training using winning tactics and practices.
  3. Progression: Train to train, train for success.
  4. Evaluation: Individual evaluations will be provided to each athlete, along with a full report to Snow Sports NZ covering what development is required to ensure further improvement.

 

HOW TO APPLY

Please complete the attached forms by the 1st July 2015 and forward to Hannah Hazeldine, Snow Sports New Zealand Alpine Manager,[email protected] including:

  1. Letter of recommendation from Training Provider/Head Coach
  2. Signed athlete/Parent agreement (Application form)
  3. Scanned copy of athlete’s NZ passport.

 

Successful applicants and full camp details will be notified by 3rd July 2015.

Parents and coaches are also encouraged to attend the camp as observers.

Final numbers and selection are at the selector’s discretion

 

ACCOMMODATION / TRANSPORT / LIFT TICKETS

Athletes/parents are required to organize their own lodging, meals, transport and lift tickets. Snow Sports NZ will endeavor to appoint a camp parent to organize/help with food and accommodation for out of town athletes.
