Para Athlete Aaron Ewen Withdraws from New Zealand PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games Team

Paralympics New Zealand in conjunction with Snow Sports NZ regrets to announce that Para athlete Aaron Ewen has withdrawn from the New Zealand Paralympic Winter Games Team. Ewen is a sit skier and was to compete at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in March.

Ewen (21 years) fractured his hip whilst training at Winter Park in the USA in December.

Ewen has now returned to New Zealand from the USA to undergo surgery today. Ewen will be unable to rehabilitate, prepare and be ready to compete at the highest level in time for the Paralympic Winter Games.

Ewen made the decision to withdraw in conjunction with Snow Sports NZ coaching and medical team.

Paralympics New Zealand and Snow Sports NZ wish Aaron well with his recovery and thank him for his hard work and determination. Both organisations look forward to seeing Aaron back on the slopes in the future.
