Copper Mountain, USA (11 December 2015) - NZ freeskiers have made an exciting start to their season with 14 year old up-and-comer Nico Porteous (Christchurch) winning the halfpipe at the U.S Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain and brothers Beau-James and Byron Wells (Wanaka) qualifying for men's freeski halfpipe finals at the Dew Tour.
Earlier today Janina Kuzma (Wanaka) finished 4th in freeski halfpipe at the Dew Tour.
Nico was the top qualifier in this morning's Rev Tour semi finals with older brother Miguel also putting together a solid performance and qualifying in third place. Nico carried his form through to the final rounds, coming away with the win. Miguel looked set for another top score, stomping a massive dub 9 but a bobble on the left 9 later in the run saw hm lose points and finish 9th overall.
Britt Hawes (Wanaka) put together a solid performance to finish 8th in the women's Rev Tour halfpipe.

Meanwhile, over in Breckenridge Beau-James and Byron Wells were on fighting form against a stacked field in the Dew Tour superpipe semis. Beau got the job done on the first of two runs, starting out with a stylish switch 7 and incorporating a right dub 12 and left dub 12 into his run for a score of 83.00 and fifth place.
Making his comeback from injury and "just super excited to be back in the pipe" Byron also looked strong right from the first hit. Sliding the coping with a funky 180 in order to take the first hit switch, he boosted out of the pipe and put together a clean run with a big left dub 12 to score 81.20 and secure 6th place.
