Winter Park, USA (2 March 2016) – Freeskier Nico Porteous has won bronze in slopestyle at the U.S. Revolution Tour at Colorado’s Winter Park Resort.
Considered one of the premier contest tours for the next generation of freeskiers and snowboarders, the Rev Tour serves to bridge the gap between grassroots competitions and the elite-level professional comps. It is an International Ski Federation (FIS)-sanctioned event, offering amateur athletes a chance to earn valuable points. Skiers also earn points on the Association of Freeskiing Professionals Tour (AFP), where the Revolution Tour serves as a silver-level event, while snowboarders earn points on the World Snowboard Tour (WST) where the Rev Tour qualifies as a national event.
Competitors faced windy and snowy conditions for the one run qualifiers and two run finals. Nico earned his highest score on his first run, crashing out on his second. NZ team mate Hamish McDougall was able to up his score on his second run to finish in fourth place.
