On Saturday 29 September it was a bluebird day; the weather calm, clear, and snow perfect. Ruapehu Snow Sports Inc (RSS) and supporters hosted a Junior Interfield race on Turoa.
84 athletes competed in this first Kombi race of the season, which was the inaugural event of what will continue to be free RSS hosted Mt Ruapehu races.
Due to our new club policy of “fee free” racing, we attracted many more athletes to the field, most signed up online prior to the race, however we did accept last minute registrations, including some that signed up on the morning of the event in the Alpine Cafe.
The course was hard, fast, and injury free and the races went off without a hitch, thanks to the help of race officials, coaches and parent support, and the results were posted online to the RSS website within minutes of race end.
We had many happy faces, and look forward to the next “fee free” races; the Junior Interfield, which will be held at Whakapapa on October 1st, then the North Island Champs on Saturday and Sunday 4th- 5th October
Results are also posted on the RSS Website
