Jossi Wells Misses Finals Spot in X Games Men’s SuperPipe

Aspen, Colorado (24 January 2013) -  The ESPN X Games 2013 kicked off today at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen with the men’s Skiing SuperPipe elimination round. Jossi Wells was a late addition to the start list after his brother Byron Wells withdrew due to injury sustained two weeks ago at the International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup in Copper Mountain, Colorado.

Jossi is a three-time Winter X Games medallist and has claimed podiums in Big Air (bronze 2012), SuperPipe (silver 2010) and Slopestyle (silver 2008); today’s competition, however, did not find him on top form. The 22 year old skier scored 67.00 points putting him in 12th place in a field of 16 competitors. The top eight place-getters progress to finals.

While disappointed by today’s result, Jossi will now focus his attention on the Ski Big Air event on Sunday (NZ time) and he is looking forward to the competition. Event organisers are predicting this year’s Big Air will be bigger and better than ever before, with competitors attempting to land tricks never seen before in competition.
