Winter Park, Colorado, USA - (2 January 2014) – New Plymouth sit-skier Corey Peters has won the gold medal in Giant Slalom at the 2014 Winter Park Open in Colorado. The result backs up his silver medal winning performance in yesterday’s Slalom event.
The three day event is an International Paralympic Committee (IPC) North America Cup (Nor-Am) competition and is being held at Corey’s northern hemisphere training base at Winter Park. Heavy snow falls have challenged competitors but Corey reports that he was “stoked to fight through it and win both runs making the top step of the podium.”
Corey will compete in one more Giant Slalom race in Winter Park tomorrow before travelling to Panorama in Canada for the first IPC World Cup of the northern hemisphere season.
