Snow Sports NZ athlete Adam Hall (Wānaka, 36) has finished in fifth place at the FIS Para Alpine Slalom World Cup held in Italy overnight.
Hall said, “I am pretty pleased with today’s performance and results. I am really pleased to be pushing what we have been working on in training into the race environment.”
Hall recorded the fourth fastest run one time, and with less than 0.4 seconds separating second place from fifth place after run one, it was setting up to be a tightly fought race for the podium.
Hall made a slight error on the second run, which cost him precious milliseconds and had to settle for a very respectable fifth place finish.
“Unfortunately a mistake in the second run likely cost me a good podium spot, however looking at having another great opportunity tomorrow to see what we can do.” Hall said.
This double-header World Cup is being held on the very slope that will be the Slalom venue in 2026 for the Milano Cortina Paralympic Winter Games, providing valuable experience for Hall and his team
Hall explained, “Being able to have this opportunity to spend time on the course where the Games will be has given us the chance to soak in what we likely will face ahead of us and we will go away with a clear plan in place of what we can do to be successful on snow.”
Snow Sports NZ Para Alpine Coach, Sam Lynch said; “We are really happy with Adam’s result, it bodes well moving into the race tomorrow and then onto the World Cup races coming up in Japan.”
Hall will compete in a second Slalom World Cup at the same venue tonight NZT.
