Corey Peters back on the podium in 2026 with a World Cup silver in Para Alpine Giant Slalom

New Zealand para alpine ski racer Corey Peters (Wānaka) is bringing home some silverware from Switzerland, taking second place in the World Cup, Veysonnaz.

Having already topped the podium in December, winning a gold and silver in Santa Caterina in the Downhill event, this placing marks the 22nd World Cup podium of his extensive career and the last event before he heads to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games.

Peters is a highly decorated New Zealand Paralympic sit-skier who has attended three previous Paralympic Winter Games. He holds four Olympic medals including gold from Beijing 2022 in Men’s Downhill Sitting.

Coach Daniel Bogue said of his performance: “It was a really good day today. Corey put down two really solid runs. The hill itself wasn’t particularly easy; it was quite rolly with some difficult terrain, so it wasn’t straightforward for sit-skiers. But Corey competed really well, he looked at the course really thoroughly, he had a plan and went through his processes, and as a team we’re really happy with where we ended up.”
