Cool Wakushima looks forward to first city Big Air event

Cool Wakushima (Queenstown, 19) got her first look at the Beijing Big Air venue ahead of the qualifiers scheduled to be held on Monday.

“I was blown away with how they built it, I have never seen or been to a city big air before. The view at the top was pretty amazing, you could see everything.” said Wakushima.

After a tough day in the office at the Snowboard slopestyle qualifiers, Wakushima is looking forward to getting back in action at the Big Air event.

Wakushima explained “I just want to be able to start my run, be safe and put down the best run I can.”

Although the jump is big and the level of riding is exceptionally high here in Beijing, Wakushima shared some wise words; “You can’t let the jump ride you, you have to ride the jump.”

Cool will be in action alongside fellow Kiwi and slopestyle gold medallist Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (Wānaka, 20) at 2.30pm NZT on Monday the 14th of February. Tiarn Collins (Queenstown, 22) will be dropping into the Men’s Big Air qualifiers just after at 6.30pm NZT.
