Oslo, Norway (27 February 2016) – New Zealand snowboarder Christy Prior (Kaukapakapa) has won an X Games silver medal in the Big Air. The world’s top ski and snowboard Big Air riders are in Norway for the first edition of X Games Oslo. The Big Air competition took place in downtown Tøyen on a scaffolding jump especially constructed for the event.
This was the first city Big Air event for slopestyle specialist Christy and her goal was to land a frontside rodeo 720 trick on the challenging jump. Competitors had three attempts to earn their highest score. Christy landed her trick and earned her top score on her first attempt, with 84.00 points.
She initially topped the leaderboard until Cheryl Maas (NED) scored an impressive 91.33 on her second run. Kjersti Oestgaard Buass (NOR) finished in the bronze medal position with her first run score of 81.00.
“I’m really stoked to put it down in such a new environment - my first scaffolding jump with 20,000 people watching! It was an incredible experience!” said Christy.
