Carlos Garcia Knight 1st, JJ Rayward 3rd at Tric Slopestyle

New Zealand snowboarders Carlos Garcia Knight (Christchurch) and JJ Rayward (Nelson) had a successful day of competition today, both making the podium at the Tric Slopestyle competition held at The Remarkables Ski Field in Queenstown. Carlos won the event and JJ placed third. Both athletes are members of the Snow Sports NZ development squads.

"I'm so stoked with the result," said Carlos. "The conditions were perfect and there was some heavy international competition including some epic Japanese riders. Everyone put down a solid run which makes coming out on top even more rewarding.

"I did a switch back 9 into a back 7 and 50-50 wildcat off of the pole jam in my winning run. My aim was to land that run at the start of the day so I'm stoked to get it done!"

New Zealand's snowboarders will now focus on the Burton High Fives 5-star Snowboard World Tour event to be held at Cardrona Alpine Resort in September.
