Mt Hotham, Australia (3 August 2014) - New Zealand Ski Cross athlete Jamie Prebble (Christchurch) has made an exciting start to his southern hemisphere season, with two podium results at the Australia New Zealand Cup (ANC) Ski Cross Championships at Mt Hotham in Australia over the weekend.
Faced with extremely strong winds, snowfalls and as the only New Zealand racer against a strong Australian field, Jamie rose to the challenges of the day to finish first in race one and second in race two.
“I’m really happy with my results,” he commented after the race. “We had tough weather conditions but I executed my plan in the important parts of the course. It's rewarding to get some positive results from all the hard work.”
Jamie won race one in a time of 38.94 ahead of Australians Anton Grimus in 39.48 and William Payne in 39.70 respectively. Race two finished with the same faces on the podium but Jamie trading places with Anton Grimus on the top step. Jamie was 0.51 off the Australian’s winning time of 39.74.
