Kiwi Para Alpine ski racer Adam Hall (Wānaka) has finished in third place at the FIS Para Alpine Slalom World Cup held in Tignes, France overnight (NZT). This result incredibly marks the 30th World Cup podium of Hall’s career and his 100thWorld Cup start. It is also a very successful start to Hall’s Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Campaign, his sixth Paralympic campaign.
Hall said; “I had a really good day, I am really happy, met some big milestones today and it is a great way to start my season. I haven’t started a season in such a strong position right off the bat before. I have had an incredible lead up into these races with amazing training and it’s so rewarding to see weeks and months of training come through into my competitions.”
Slalom rankings are determined by the first and second run times of each athlete combined. Hall was sitting in fourth position after the first run, so he knew he would need to find a little more speed in his second run if he wanted to secure a podium finish today.
“Today’s conditions on the slope was perfect, my skis were great and things are just slowly coming together. The competition was so tight, I just have to trust my processes and continue to solidify my training as we head into competitions. Thanks also to team Australia and the strong alliance we have with their team, working together to get extra eyes on the hill.” – Hall.
Hall finished in bronze medal position, +2.87 behind the winner Arthur Bauchet of France. Aaron Lindstroem of Sweden rounded out the podium in second place.
Snow Sports NZ Lead Para Alpine Coach, Daniel Bogue explained; “We have continued on from last season working on Adam’s technical skiing, while also searching for the best equipment set up to enable him to perform. The whole team is stoked for Adam and how he skied today. We still have work to do which is exciting moving forward.
Tonight was just the first of two back to back Para Alpine Slalom Races set to be held in Tignes, Hall will be back in the bib on Tuesday night NZT for the second World Cup race.
