Expression of Interest -  Snow Sports NZ Performance Physiotherapist Pool

An exciting opportunity has arisen for qualified and experienced Performance Physiotherapists to join the Snow Sports New Zealand (SSNZ) physiotherapy pool in the lead up to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We invite you to express your interest in joining our SSNZ Performance Physiotherapy contractor pool, supporting our dedicated performance health team, providing world-class physiotherapy care in camp and/or competition environments in the lead up to Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

About the Pool:

  • SSNZ has established a rotational pool of physiotherapists from around New Zealand and internationally.
  • Our physiotherapists provide expert physiotherapy services to elite and development ski and snowboard athletes, on and off snow, including individualised injury management, minimising injury risk and performance optimisation.

About the role:

  • This is a contract role with services provided on an ad hoc basis as needed and agreed between SSNZ and the contractor. All combinations of contractor time availability will be considered. 
  • Services will be in competition and camp environments, delivered across New Zealand or Internationally.
  • The contracted physiotherapist(s) will work closely with coaches, athletes and performance support staff to optimise athlete performance and recovery.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications

  • A successful candidate will have a minimum of five years postgraduate experience, including two years spent delivering Physiotherapy support within a high performance environment.
  • You must be a confident skier or snowboarder in a variety of terrain.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Sports Physiotherapy or equivalent and previous experience of working collaboratively with applied disciplines of sport medicine and science is desirable.
  • An ability to adapt to diverse environments and manage travel logistics effectively. Experience in navigating different cultures and handling travel-related challenges will be advantageous for this role.
  • Hold a full, clean drivers licence.

Essential:

To be considered for the SSNZ Physiotherapy pool you will need to hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate issued by the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand or an international equivalent. An up to date first aid certificate along with professional indemnity insurance.

    • Applicants may be invited to attend an on hill session at Cardrona in September or early October in 2024 (domestic candidates only).
  4. Notification of Outcome and Registration to SSNZ Physiotherapy Pool
