Lyon first started training with the NZ team in 2014 and is now a member of the Snow Sports NZ High Performance Snowboard Team, coached by Sean Thompson.

Teammate Zoi Sadowski-Synnott is an inspiration to Lyon. He admires how through hard work, perseverance and discipline she has become the phenomenal athlete she is today and this inspires Lyon to push that extra bit harder on hill when training.

In the coming 2023 season Lyon aims to learn a trick that has never been done before and continue to develop into a more intelligent competitor.
