Lyon was born in Los Angeles, California but first learn to ski at Coronet Peak with his mum, dad and three siblings. He switched to snowboarding following in his big brothers footsteps and entered his first competition in 2011.
At both the 2018 and the 2019 Seiser Alm Slopestyle World Cup's in Italy Lyon landed himself on the podium, in bronze medal position in 2018 and silver medal position in 2019.
In 2022 Lyon landed an incredibly technical frontside triple cork 1800 with a mute to tail grab at Cardrona Alpine Resort on the Big Air.
Lyon first started training with the NZ team in 2014 and is now a member of the Snow Sports NZ High Performance Snowboard Team, coached by Sean Thompson.
Teammate Zoi Sadowski-Synnott is an inspiration to Lyon. He admires how through hard work, perseverance and discipline she has become the phenomenal athlete she is today and this inspires Lyon to push that extra bit harder on hill when training.
In the coming 2023 season Lyon aims to learn a trick that has never been done before and continue to develop into a more intelligent competitor.
His ultimate dream is to podium at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, win an X Games medal and have continue to film and create epic snowboarding segments.
