Hailing from Auckland, Mischa is an up and coming freeskiing athlete who competes in Big Air and Slopestyle.
Third place finish at the 2023 Freeski Slopestyle Junior World Championships, winner of the 2020 & 2022 Winner of the NZ Freestyle Series.
Mischa’s parents taught her to ski when she was three years old at Mt Ruapehu. Mischa, her parents and her four siblings would take family ski holidays through out her childhood.
When she was six years old Mischa started attending ski school lessons through her club and that is where her love for skiing really developed.
In 2020 Mischa decided to focus on freestyle skiing. At the beginning of 2020 Mischa went overseas with her parents and her brother to Copper Mountain, Colorado and spent a lot of time skiing in the terrain park. When she returned to NZ she came down to Wānaka for the winter trained with the Cardrona High Performance Centre.
At the start of 2022 Mischa went to LAAX with her coach to train at the world class terrain park there. On returning to New Zealand for the 2022 winter she was talent ID’d by Snow Sports NZ and has been training with the Snow Sports NZ National Development Team.
In 2023 Mischa was named to the team to represent New Zealand at the 2023 FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships held at Cardrona Alpine Resort. Mischa claimed the bronze medal in Freeski Slopestyle in the heavily stacked field, a goal of hers.
Further on in her career Mischa aspires to get multiple world cup podiums, linking double cork rotations together in her run and be selected to the NZ Team for the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games.
Mischa is a very creative person, so her favourite thing about freeskiing is the freedom to be yourself and ski how you like.
Her biggest inspiration is Canadian freeskier Olivia Asselin.
When Mischa isn’t on snow you will find her spending time with friends or wind surfing in the summer months.
