Biography

Growing up in Queenstown and with both parents ski instructors, Blake was always destined for a mountain lifestyle. He began skiing at the age of three, started racing aged five, got in to freestyle as a young teenager and soon found his love of freeride.

As well as earning his PE degree, Blake quietly pursued a competitive skiing career.  A win in 2019 at The North Face Frontier 4* FWQ on his home mountain of The Remarkables was just the push he needed to chase the dream of qualifying for the Freeride World Tour. A strong Northern Hemisphere season including third place at a four star event in Montafon, Austria and seventh in Les Arcs, France helped seal the deal and a place on the 2020 Freeride World Tour.

His first season on the FWT was a good one with Blake finishing 7th in Hakuba, Japan, 5th in Kicking Horse, Canada and 4th in Fieberbrunn, Austria. He finished the season ranked sixth overall which gave him a ticket to FWT21. Blake continued on the Freeride World Tour for the 2022 season, and despite some incredible skiing, he was unable to retain his spot for 2023.

Blake headed to the 2023 Europe-Oceania qualifier tour and made quick work of two podium finishes, taking the win at The North Face Frontier 4* at his home mountain The Remarkables and a third place finish at the 2023 Verbier Challenger. These excellent results meant Blake re-qualified for the Freeride World Tour in 2024.
