Calder learnt to ski when he was three years old on a family trip to Mt Hutt in Canterbury. Two years later he began to learn properly by attending a school ski programme.
Calder began racing in the NZ Junior Interfields when he was eight years old, he then graduated to competing in the NZ Youth Series in the under 14 category.
His most memorable moment skiing is when he got to represent New Zealand at the 2022 FIS Alpine Junior World Championships in Panorama, Canada.
Calder has a goal to become a contender on the Europa Cup and North American Cup circuits, and of course eventually end up competing at the top level of ski racing on the World Cup circuit.
When not skiing you will find Calder cross country mountain biking and sailing.
