Adaptive Groups

Snow Sports NZ aim to provide access for all New Zealanders with functional impairments who wish to actively participate in adaptive snow sports. Support and significant discounts are available for Snow Sports NZ members.

There are a range of groups on a regional basis including disabled snow sports groups or specific disability groups that organise trips to the mountains to ski and snowboard.  Many other snow sports groups and specialised groups also offer support, and trips. Some of these groups include:

Disabled Snowsports Canterbury

Disabled Snowsports Canterbury are strong supporters of snow sports for people with a disability, running ski trips and support.  They welcome new members and provide an important network for those wanting to have fun on the snow. Follow this link for more information.

Special Olympics

Snow sports training and competition is one of the sports offered by Special Olympics New Zealand for young people and adults with an intellectual disability, with regions and clubs throughout New Zealand. Follow this link for more information.

Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind

The Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind have Recreation Advisors based in Auckland, Wellington, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Christchurch and Dunedin. Each year groups from RNZFB organise ski and snowboard trips. Follow this link for more information.

Halberg Disability Coordinators 

Through the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation, a network of Halberg Disability Coordinators and Advisors, working alongside Regional Sports Trusts throughout New Zealand, are available to help identify sporting pathways for disabled people. Your local coordinator can assist you in getting active in snow sports.
