Piera Hudson Wraps Up Far East Cup Campaign with a Win

Taiwoo Ski Resort, China (12 December 2019) – Alpine ski racer Piera Hudson (Havelock North) wrapped up a successful Far East Cup campaign in China yesterday (Wednesday) with a win in the Giant Slalom. On Tuesday she finished in third place in the GS, adding to the two podium finishes (1st and 3rd) achieved at Wanlong Ski Resort (CHN) last week.

“I’m really happy to end the series on a high with another great result and to head back to Europe feeling like the mission was accomplished after a successful week of racing,” said Piera after yesterday’s race.

Achieving strong results within a competitive field will mean an improved world ranking for Piera, in turn offering her a more favourable start position for World Cup racing. Piera is due to compete in the Parallel Slalom World Cup in St Moritz, Switzerland this weekend, followed by the Giant Slalom World Cup in Courchevel, France on 17 December.

In yesterday’s FEC Giant Slalom, Piera held the lead from the first run of two, and claimed the win 0.65s ahead of Hilma Loevblom (SWE). Zuzanna Czapska (POL) placed third. The previous day it was Loevblom in first place, Czapska second and Piera Hudson in third.
