NZ skier Ben Richards has won a Freeride World Qualifier three-star event in Hakuba, Japan in front of a strong contingent of Kiwi supporters.
The FWQ event took place on 14 January just a few days before the first event on the Freeride World Tour calendar gets underway at the same resort.
"I'm super stoked on the result and it was super cool to have all the Kiwis here!" said Ben.
Fellow Kiwi Manu Barnard finished just off the podium in fourth place. NZ skiers Henry Freeman and Alistair Garland finished 15th and 22nd respectively.
Competing in the FWT event, scheduled to take place between 18 and 25 January, and cheering for the NZ competitors in yesterday's comp were Blake Marshall, Craig Murray, Hank Bilous and Jess Hotter.
