Far East Cup Podiums for Piera Hudson in China

Wanlong Ski Resort, China (5 December 2019) – Alpine ski racer Piera Hudson has claimed two podium placings at Far East Cup Slalom races in Wanlong Ski Resort, China. On day one (Wednesday 4 December) of the four-day series she took first place, finishing ahead of World Cup racers Asa Ando (JPN) and Martina Dubovska (CZE). Yesterday (Thursday) saw another strong performance by the Kiwi with Piera finishing in third place.

Day one’s racing saw a close battle between the top three with Piera initially in second place 0.4s behind Asa Ando before laying down a very strong second run to take the win by 0.05s, pushing the Japanese racer back to second place.

Third place finisher Martina Dubovska has recently placed ninth in a World Cup Slalom race in Levi, Finland while Asa Ando finished 18th in the Killington, USA Slalom World Cup last weekend.

Day two’s (Thursday) racing saw a change up in the podium placings with Martina Dubovska in first place, Asa Ando in second and Piera Hudson third, just 0.71s off the top spot.

The race series continues at Wanlong Ski Resort on Friday and Saturday with two days of Giant Slalom races before moving to Taiwoo Ski Resort next week. Piera will be looking to replicate or better her successful 2018 FEC results which included a first and a third place at Wanlong last year as well as three first places in Taiwoo, China.
