2024 AGM - Snow Sports NZ Releases Draft Constitution

As a consequence of the update of the Incorporated Societies Act, Snow Sports NZ is required to re-register under the new Act prior to April 2026.  In order to comply with the new legislation a number of changes are required to the constitution.

Snow Sports NZ has also taken the opportunity to while revising the constitution for compliance reasons to also consider other areas where the document can be simplified or updated in line with contemporary practice to best suit the future needs of the organisation.

The draft constitution has been drafted in collaboration with Gibson Sheat Lawyers. To help members understand what changes are proposed, Snow Sports NZ has grouped proposed changes into three categories:

  • Category 1 | What changes Snow Sports NZ needs to make to comply with the new Incorporated Societies Act.
  • Category 2 | What needs to be removed from the Constitution due to it being obsolete or redundant.
  • Category 3 | What change Snow Sports NZ recommends making to enhance the Constitution.

A document outlining the changes, grouped in the categories above, can be found downloaded here.
