Murray Buchan

Murray is a Snow Sports NZ National Freeski Coach. He is an accomplished athlete himself, as a two-time Winter Olympian (Sochi 2014 & Pyeongchang 2018) who competed in Freeski Halfpipe.

Murray retired from competitive freeskiing in 2018 and started coaching for Snowsport Scotland and GB Snowsport. He then attended his third Winter Olympics (Beijing 2022) as a coach, working with Team GB.

Murray has been a passionate skier since a young age, cutting his teeth riding dry slopes in Scotland. An avid sportsman, he played a lot of rugby until he was 20 years old, before he switched his focus solely to Freeskiing.

Murray is looking forward to working with the Kiwi athletes and brings a vast amount of personal and professional experience to the team.
