Daniel grew up in Alexandra, spending his weekends and holidays skiing at the resorts surrounding Wānaka. Daniel studied in Dunedin before embarking on his career in the snow sports industry as a ski instructor 27 years ago.
Daniel has worked across all levels of snowsports schools, including as an instructor, supervisor and training manager. His work has taken him all over the globe chasing snow, including seasons in Japan, Canada and the USA. For the last 25 years Daniel has been training ski instructors for the Rookie Academy, and also works as a senior examiner for the NZSIA and sits as the president of the NZSIA Board.
Over the years Daniel has had the opportunity to work with incredibly talented skiers. He has always been interested in developing a deeper understanding of ski performance and the associated body performance. An avid learner, Daniel is incredibly excited to apply his experience and skills to aid in the development of New Zealand's top Para Alpine Ski Racers.
Daniel is raising his young family in Wānaka and is grateful that he gets to spend his weekends in the hills chasing them around the mountain. When Daniel isn't in his ski boots you will find him running the family business.
