In 2023 Ruby skied her way onto the first World Cup podium of her career, 3rd place at the Mammoth Mountain Slopestyle World Cup. In 2022 Ruby was crowned the Freeski Slopestyle Junior World Champion. Ruby represented New Zealand at the Youth Winter Olympic Games held in Leysin in 2020. She placed 5th in the Halfpipe event. She placed 3rd in the Halfpipe at the 2019 FIS Junior World Ski Championships.

Ruby Star Andrews was selected onto the Snow Sports NZ National Development Team when she was twelve years old.
When she was 14 years old she competed in the first major event of her career, the 2018 FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships. It was a great experience for Ruby and as once of the youngest athletes in the field she finished in a respectable 15th place in Slopestyle and 13th place in Halfpipe.
Just 18 months later Ruby competed at the 2019 FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships, claiming the bronze medal in Freeski Halfpipe.
Through the 2022 season Ruby continued to train and compete, claiming Slopestyle podium finishes at Australia New Zealand Cup and North American Cup level. She once again competed at the FIS Park & Pipe Junior World Championships and was crowned the Freeski Slopestyle Junior World Champion, a huge moment in her career.
Carrying her momentum, 2023 was a breakthrough season for Ruby, claiming the first World Cup podium of her career at the Mammoth Mountain Freeski Slopestyle World Cup. This was also only the second Freeski Slopestyle World Cup podium achieved by a Kiwi woman. The first was ten years prior in 2013.
Just weeks later Ruby competed at her first FIS Park and Pipe World Championships of her career. She finished in sixth place in the women's freeski slopestyle, which marked the best result in this event by a Kiwi woman ever.
Due to her exceptional results in 2023, Ruby was the winner of the Snow Sports New Zealand Breakthrough Athlete of the Year in 2023.
