Colbey started skiing in Angel Fire, New Mexico, USA when he was three years old. He began racing after watching a family friend compete and has been hooked ever since. With whānau near Mt. Ruapehu in Raehtihi, Colbey has also spent plenty of time skiing in New Zealand. Currently he splits his time training at Coronet Peak in the NZ winter and Sugarloaf, Maine, USA with the Colby College Ski Team for the northern season. He is currently attending Colby College in Waterville, Maine, USA, looking to major in biochemistry while skiing on a division 1 NCAA ski team. Colbey's off-snow hobbies include mountain biking and hiking.
